A Flagship Initiative of Unite BVI

The Virgin Islands is more ocean than land

All of our futures depend on how we care for and invest in the sea. From the fish on our plates, to the view through our scuba mask, to the strength of our coastlines. The ocean sustains us - our people, our culture, our economy.

Tourism is the backbone of our economy and is inextricably tied to the health of our marine environment.

Crystal-clear waters, vibrant reefs, and resilient coastlines are not only our natural heritage, but our greatest economic asset.

As climate change intensifies and marine resources are pushed to the brink, we have an opportunity and a responsibility to begin to lead differently. The Blue Economy is our chance to dive into a new way of doing business: one that generates income and protects the environment for generations to come.

By aligning with the BVI’s Blue Economy Strategy and global climate goals, the 2025 Impact Challenge invites entrepreneurs, dreamers, and doers to dive in with bold ideas that will restore, reimagine, and regenerate our ocean-based economy, starting right here at home.

About The 2025 Impact Challenge

The 2025 Impact Challenge, powered by The VI Purpose Fund, is a dynamic entrepreneurship competition aimed at identifying and accelerating innovative, business-driven solutions to the environmental challenges threatening ocean health.

The VI Purpose Fund’s mission is to support the development of purpose-led ventures that deliver both economic success and tangible environmental and community impact. Through this challenge, we seek to nurture businesses that are not only commercially viable, but also act as powerful agents of positive change – advancing the wellbeing of people and protecting the planet we all share.

Our Partners

The VI Purpose Fund is an initiative of Unite BVI, a non-profit foundation based in the British Virgin Islands that brings together trusted partnerships, great ideas & resources, to empower action and deliver sustainable, positive impact. Founded in 2016, Unite BVI focuses on projects that advance education, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship.

From the very beginning, Virgin Unite has played a pivotal role in supporting Unite BVI’s mission, helping to nurture the foundation's growth and amplify its impact.

We are especially grateful to the support of Sir Richard Branson and Rick Kearney in bringing The VI Purpose Fund to life. Their leadership and commitment to people and planet have made this initiative – and The 2025 Impact Challenge – not only possible, but a force for lasting impact.

Join a bold new wave of innovation shaping the future of our ocean and economy.
